Aviva Actuarial scheme
A wealth of breadth, influence and respect.
Join us in Actuarial and you’ll be part of one of the industry’s most respected and influential teams – one that innovates and advises on our financial strategy, not only across the UK, but our businesses overseas as well. Our Actuaries are key players in that success. And joining them, your work will underpin a business with 50 million corporate and public customers, relying on us to protect their interests and grow their wealth. That's why we only want the very best. And why, if you are just that, you'll be well supported by a close-knit community of qualified Actuaries as you develop into one of the field's finest practitioners.
There's a real breadth of work in Actuarial. From solvency, product profitability & development and profit reporting, to actuarial governance, consultancy, staff development and risk management, our teams cover it all. And whichever area you start in, you won't be pigeonholed. By testing yourself in different environments, you'll bring fresh thinking and ideas to the table, build a greater appreciation for the bigger picture and develop your knowledge and expertise.
We have one of the largest actuarial communities in the country. So, as you can imagine, we have a wide variety of roles, focusing on everything from products to processes, regulation to innovation. Group Reporting Actuary, Igloo Modeller, Economic Capital Actuary and Actuarial Advisor are just a handful of our roles. To see what’s currently on offer see our live actuarial vacancies.
Principally, our Actuarial teams are based in London, York and Norwich. To find out if we're recruiting the right role for you in your area, visit our current vacancies page. If you're interested in all the places we do business, visit our main Locations page.
Graduates with natural commercial acumen and an instinctive flair for numbers and statistics are sought after by businesses the length and breadth of the country. And the very best are drawn towards the role of Actuary.
Many of them have joined Aviva. So you'll have a wealth of talent to call on for advice and support as you work with a company ranked alongside (and often ahead of) leading financial institutions.
What you'll do. Actuaries paint a picture of the future with numbers. And here at Aviva, those pictures predict how our life, pensions and general insurance products will fare, and how well our own IT, marketing and business operations will work.
It's certainly not the easiest job in the world; you'll need to pass the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries' exams. But while the average qualifying time throughout the industry is five years, we've had trainees pass in three. In other words, your talent, ambition and dedication will be in safe hands here. The fact you'll have the option to take up to 45 study days each year will help, too.
What you'll need. Aside from the commercial acumen we've mentioned, you'll need a 2.1 degree (or equivalent) in a suitably numerical subject and 300 UCAS points or higher from three A Levels or equivalent qualifications (excluding General Studies). And you'll need to be comfortable working closely with people. After all, you'll be explaining highly complex issues in an uncomplicated way to people who aren't specialists in your area, but are the key business decision makers here at Aviva.
