Local Festival to showcase ‘A Celebration of Film’ at BGU

The Venue cinema at Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) will be hosting Film Festival: A Celebration of Film from Friday 6 to Sunday 8 July.

This is the second joint venture between The Venue, Lincoln Film Society, Lincolnshire Schools and the BFI (British Film Institute) – celebrating children, young people and film.

Within the past year, The Venue have worked with local schools to exhibit their short films, made as a part of the international collaboration between the BFI and Cinematheque Francais (now known as Cinema Cent Ans de Jeunesse). This was the start of the film festival.

Film Festival: A Celebration of Film highlights the place that children and young people have in cinema. The Venue will be showing films for young people, about young people and made by young people. From enjoyable familiar classics to new discoveries waiting to be made, there will be something for everyone from parents, grandparents, children and students to film buffs, movie lovers and cinema novices alike.

For more information on how to be part of this innovative celebration visit the Venue’s website at www.thevenuelincoln.co.uk

All proceeds from the Film Festival will be going to charity:

St Barnabas Hospice Lincoln (BG Lincoln Ltd.’s chosen charity for 2018) –

St Barnabas Hospice is the leading charity in Lincolnshire providing palliative and end-of-life care to adults living with a life-limiting or terminal illness.
