Job Description

The Computing programme at Bromley Schools' Collegiate is designed to prepare you for teaching Computing in secondary schools. This course combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, ensuring that you develop the skills needed to inspire students and help them understand the rapidly evolving world of technology.

You will be equipped to teach topics such as programming, algorithms, cybersecurity, and digital literacy, while helping students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The programme includes two placements in contrasting schools, allowing you to apply your learning in real teaching environments and progressively take on more responsibility for planning and delivering lessons.

The course focuses on teaching fundamental Computing concepts such as coding, data structures, and the safe use of technology. You will learn how to teach both theoretical concepts, like computational theory and digital ethics, and practical skills, such as coding in programming languages like Python or JavaScript. The course also covers how to encourage students to think critically about technology and its societal impact.

You will be trained in creating engaging lessons that integrate theory with hands-on activities, allowing students to develop their practical skills in programming, problem-solving, and digital creativity.

Mentoring and Support:

You will be supported throughout your placements by experienced Computing teachers who will guide your development. Regular feedback and observations will help you refine your teaching style, classroom management skills, and ability to deliver effective lessons.
