The JLR Early Careers team, based within the People function, plays a key role in developing the capability of our people.
This role will be responsible for shaping & creating memorable experiences and providing essential core skills support across all our Apprenticeship programmes from learner induction through to successful completion and beyond. This requires direct and regular engagement with a cohort of learners, their line managers, internal and external trainers and other internal and external stakeholders. You will review and monitor progression against agreed plans and milestones providing a variety of support and guidance as well as manage a small team of likeminded Early Careers specialists.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the development of learners following apprenticeship programmes, to enable them to become future professionals in their occupation role and build lasting careers which contribute important capabilities to our business.
- Enable apprentices to develop new skills, knowledge and behaviours so that they can perform to their optimum and consistently deliver JLR’s strategic objectives.
- Effectively lead, support, and manage a small team of appreticeship managers to make sure they are successful in their roles.
- Ensure all learners have a clear development pathway, and the various forms of support required to help them to achieve all aspects of their programme and associated personal development to a high standard.
- Review and monitor learner progression aligned to their programme curriculum and as appropriate for their stage in the programme and experience.
- Ensure all interventions are documented and monitored to address any areas of concern. Implement a consistent approach to performance management, using informal coaching and formal Performance Improvement Process (PIP) where required.
- Ensure effective induction of all new starters -ensuring corporate, local and any formal learning aspects are addressed.
- Ensure that supporting programme activities such as internally planned training activities, placements, rotations, team projects, business communication meetings, rate for stage reviews, and assessments are planned, communicated and delivered to a high standard. Establishing curriculums and pathways within Success Factors to reflect the set programme content and enable planning and evaluation of each element.
- Ensure HR Tickets for matters relating to early careers delivery are addressed and resolved appropriately.
- Provide regular feedback to learners, line managers, business leaders and local HR teams on the progression and performance of their learners. Identifying strengths and development opportunities for each learner to enable them to perform in their target role. Rank talent and identify further development actions aligned to capability and potential.
- Ensure effective reviews to ensure health and safety, and general welfare of early careers learners.
- Use own operational experience to identify issues and trends in scheme operation. Ensure leaner feedback is collected and evaluated. (e.g. focus group discussions, listening circles, Pulse survey responses). Identify root causes and identify opportunities for continuous improvement to be shared with the Early Careers Governance team.
- Support promotion, recruitment and celebration events associated with apprenticeship programmes along with learners.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Proven track record in supporting the delivery of early careers apprenticeship programmes at L3 – L7 or other complex learning and development activities which have direct and regular engagement with the learner.
- Highly developed mentoring / coaching skills – able to adapt style and approach to situation and audience.
- Able to coach others in how to support apprentice level learners - e.g. through objective setting, relevant placement experiences and appropriate performance management techniques.
- Comfortable using LMS / reporting systems to effectively and proactively deploy learning curriculums, manage progression of learners, build action plans, and keep relevant stakeholders informed.
- Experience of managing a team, setting and managing team performance.
