This role provides the opportunity for an enthusiastic Solicitor with relevant post qualification experience to work as part of a busy legal team, providing advice and direction on a wide variety of matters.  The role will primarily focus on commercial contracts and general legal advice. Experience in M&A transactions, corporate governance and company secretarial matters is desirable but not essential.

 

The successful candidate will be a key and influential adviser to the Jaguar Land Rover business and will work with a  cross-functional team to help shape the future of Jaguar Land Rover.

 

The role will involve taking the lead in making decisions about legal and commercial risks which affect the business and it is expected that the right candidate will become a trusted adviser to the Jaguar Land Rover business, (including at board director level) and be able to provide robust legal advice. 

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Advising, drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts across the Jaguar Land Rover group of companies, many of which will be of high value and complexity including in relation to:
    • Supply and purchase agreements, logistics and distribution, data protection, IT and related services etc.; 
    • Partnerships, collaborations and investments;
    • M&A transactions, corporate disposals and re-organisations (depending on candidate experience).
  • Drafting and amending precedent documents;
  • Managing a high-volume workload;
  • Ensuring cross-functional collaboration, and building a strong network of cross-functional stakeholders
  • Conducting legal research
  • Keeping abreast of legislative and industry changes and ensuring that legal advice is aligned with the same
  • Undertaking any other work as required in connection with the role.

 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Essential:

  • Qualified Solicitor of England and Wales who has strong proven experience of working on commercial contracts and advising on legal compliance;
  • Experience gained at a strong private practice firm and/or in-house; 
  • Highly effective prioritisation skills, with an ability to manage a large and varied workload;
  • Good attention to detail and ability to convey advice in a clear and concise manner which is easily understandable by non-lawyers at all levels of the business.

Desirable:

  • Strong experience working with automotive, manufacturing and engineering focused clients; 
  • Experience of working with global companies, with high value and complex contracts;
  • Experience working as an in-house lawyer;
  • Corporate legal experience including in respect of M&A transactions, corporate disposals and reorganisations and company secretarial matters.
