This role provides the opportunity for an enthusiastic Solicitor with relevant post qualification experience to work as part of a busy legal team, providing advice and direction on a wide variety of matters.  The role will primarily focus on M&A transactions, corporate governance, company secretarial matters, commercial contracts and general legal advice. 

The successful candidate will be a key and influential adviser to the Jaguar Land Rover business and will work with a cross-functional team to help shape the future of Jaguar Land Rover.

The role will involve taking the lead in making decisions about legal, governance and commercial risks which affect the business, and it is expected that the right candidate will become a trusted adviser to the Jaguar Land Rover business, (including at board director level) and be able to provide robust legal and governance advice. 


You'll also be responsible for the following:

  • Advising, drafting and negotiating a variety of corporate and commercial contracts across the Jaguar Land Rover group of companies, many of which will be of high value and complexity including in relation to:
    • M&A and corporate disposals.
    • Partnerships, collaborations and investments.
    • Corporate re-organisations.
    • Supply and purchase agreements, logistics and distribution, data protection, IT and related services etc.
  • Providing corporate governance and company secretarial advice and direction to the Jaguar Land Rover group of companies, including:
    • Attending and managing board meetings from a governance perspective.
    • Advising and preparing legal documentation to implement corporate changes, including drafting board and shareholder resolutions, amendments to constitutional documents and frameworks (including articles of association and byelaws), powers of attorney etc.
    • Ensuring compliance with legal and governance requirements in respect of decision making and advising on the same.
    • Providing general company secretarial support to the business.
  • Drafting and amending precedent documents.
  • Ensuring cross-functional collaboration and building a strong network of cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Conducting legal research on matters of corporate and commercial law, in addition to governance and company secretarial matters.
  • Keeping abreast of legislative and industry changes and ensuring that legal advice is aligned with the same.




To be successful in the role you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Qualified Solicitor of England and Wales who has strong proven experience of working on corporate transactions, commercial contracts and advising on legal governance compliance including company secretarial matters.
  • Experience gained at a strong private practice firm and/or in-house.
  • Highly effective prioritisation skills, with an ability to manage a large and varied workload.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to convey advice in a clear and concise manner which is easily understandable by non-lawyers at all levels of the business.


Additional experience and skills that would be advantageous:

  • Strong experience working with automotive, manufacturing and engineering focused clients.  
  • Experience of working with global companies, with high value and complex contracts.
  • Experience working as an in-house lawyer.
