WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Electric Drive Unit (EDU) is key in Jaguar Land Rover’s electrification strategy.

 

The EDU Integration team is responsible for the delivery of the in-house manufactured Electric Drive Units assembly, ensuring that it meets our requirements to deliver an experience that our customers will love.

 

In this context, the EDU Design Integrity Lead Engineer is responsible for ensuring that quality drives the design by fostering a robust Design for Failure Mode and Effect Avoidance (DFMEA) and Design Review By Failure Mode (DRBFM) strategy across the EDU integration and sub-systems teams. The Engineer will be responsible for driving the developments of the core EDU-system DFMEA and program specific DRBFM while ensuring alignment with JLR standards and corporate quality requirements. Leading complex root cause investigation throughout the development, testing and launch phases and ensuring their robust closure by implementing prevent recurrence into the DFMEA and EDU Design Verification Plan (DVP) as appropriate.    

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Core EDU-system DFMEA management

    • Drive development of core EDU- System DFMEA maintaining alignment with Corporate Quality Requirement

    • Maintain EDU- System quality history and prevent recurrence documentation up to date

    • Maintain EDU System boundary diagram up to date

 

  • EDU-system DRBFM

    • Lead / support programme specific EDU-system DRBFM

 

  • Quality issue resolution

    • Lead complex root cause investigation at prototype level throughout the development, testing and launch phases

    • Support Intelligent Quality Management (IQM) issue resolution

    • Lead / Support the prevent recurrence process

 

  • Core EDU-system Design Verification Plan (DVP) management

    • Drive development of core EDU- System DVP maintaining alignment with DFMEA

    • Create / support the creation of virtual assessment test cases for the validation of system level attributes

    • Create / support the creation of physical test procedures for the validation of system level attributes

 

  • EDU-system standard deck maintenance

    • Maintain the EDU-system deck of standards up to date / in alignment with DFMEA

  • Run / support programme specific EDU-system standard deck creation.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

Essential:

 

  • Significant experience creating and managing DFMEA (ideally at a system or sub-system level)

  • Proven working experience in problem-solving through 8D & DMAIC problem solving methodologies on mechanical and / or electrical components (a green belt six sigma certification or equivalent is highly desirable)

  • Good understanding of electric drive unit integration and assembly

  • Experience managing resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment, with internal and external stakeholders

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with influencing and engagement skills

  • Degree in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience

 

Desirable:

 

  • Experience with development of EV driveline systems.

  • Proficient use of the software: ReliaSoft, Traceable Requirements Management (TRM) and Xray.

  • Familiarity with the software: RMDV or DOORS

  • Experience with component and / or system validation.

  • Experience of Agile project delivery
