WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Jaguar Land Rover Aftermarket Purchasing ensures the worldwide dealer network has a secure, stable and competitive supply of all serviceable parts and retailer fit Accessories through the whole life cycle of our vehicles.

 

Activity starts from the new model launch through the production life plus a further 15 years to the end of service life. The department contributes to revenue generation through enterprise value activities and management of the total cost of ownership

 

Reporting to the Regional Purchasing Manager you will have overall responsibility for commodity lifecycle activities from strategy and sourcing through to new part introduction, portfolio management and end of production life planning for an aftermarket strategic commodity.

 

You will work closely with key stakeholders such as Pricing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Inventory Management, Commercial and Production Purchasing.

 

Aftermarket Purchasing has responsibility for a full breadth of commodity groups including engines and powertrain, remanufacturing, electrical propulsion, electrical, chassis, interior, exterior, body in white and retailer fit accessories. The role requires a strategic and delivery focus for a designated commodity working with current production and past model year parts and suppliers.

 

  • Responsible for the Aftermarket element of the relevant overall commodity strategy

  • Working closely with the Production Purchasing Global Commodity Lead and Global Strategic Buyers to ensure strategy alignment

  • Responsible for creating the Aftermarket Strategic Commodity Dossier to aid strategic direction for the Aftermarket business.

  • Work closely with AMP Capacity Planner to ensure sufficient capacity at nomination and manage strategic capacity changes

  • Support new model sourcing strategy for a given set of commodities representing Aftermarket Purchasing interests

  • Lead stakeholder alignment in relation to Total Cost of Ownership; piece cost, investment, Lead-times, Minimum order quantity and inventory costs

  • Deliver material cost and distribution costs to target.

 

Key Accountabilties and Responsibilities

 

As a Global Strategic Buyer, you will be responsible for end of production life strategy, planning and delivery, ensuring supply continuity of commodity and resourcing activity when required. You will also lead internal stakeholder relationships across the Customer Service function working collaboratively with Pricing, Commercial, Supply Chain and Inventory Management. You will Participate in functional improvement/transformation projects as required.

Essential:

 

  • Experience of negotiating in a purchasing environment

  • Contract management

  • Global Sourcing - Knowledge and experience of global sourcing and global team working

  • Stakeholder management - Cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills

  • Supplier management

Desirable:

 

  • Retail knowledge or experience of working with inventory management

  • Ability to manage multiple projects

  • Business & technical knowledge

  • Analytical skills using purchasing tools

  • Problem solving and idea generation

  • Development and implementation of strategies

  • Experience of an SAP Purchasing System

  • CIPS Qualification level 4
