The successful candidate for the above role will retain their current employer, i.e. if you are a Jaguar employee you will continue to be administered on the Jaguar grading structure with the associated terms and conditions. If you are currently on BAC or EMC terms, you will retain your current employer but will transfer to a JLR contract and the associated terms and conditions.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Working within and as part of an infotainment Hardware Squad. The purpose of this role is to coordinate the development, validation and introduction of HW design changes brought about by the global IC shortage. The role requires the individual to deliver the HW changes to quality, cost and time. Working primarily with external suppliers and with expert terms within Jaguar Land Rover to ensure the technical content and performance of the ECU meets the standards expected by the business. The role also requires that the lessons learnt from the IC shortage work is integrated into future infotainment HW development.
Coordinating HW changes brought about by the global IC shortage will be key to enabling JLR to meet its vision and help to continue with it’s modern luxury, sustainability and connected & autonomous vehicles.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
You will be conducting technical assessments of supplier HW changes, doing tolerance, quality power dissipation calculations where necessary. Make decisions from technical assessments, based on review with senior management where necessary. To develop and monitor suppliers to deliver against HW plan changes.
Define and validate hardware change within the business. Develop and manage test plans, within the team. Including detailed planning of test and development stages through to sign off. You will be part of cross squad support with rectification of hardware related issues. Working closely with suppliers in quality and root cause analysis activities.
To put lessons learnt during IC shortage work to create requirements for future Infotainment HW projects. You will report to senior management on phase status and represent at Jaguar Land Rover management reviews (e.g. governance). Undertake any other work as directed by the line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.
Knowledge, skills and experience
Essential:
Previous experience of managing resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment
Experience in hardware electronics development
Designing electronic modules to meet EMC requirements
Applying tolerance analysis on analogue and digital circuit designs
Knowledge of automotive networks (CAN, Ethernet) and diagnostics
Knowledge of technologies used in automotive infotainment systems
A good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition and change management processes
Experience in using industry recognised problem solving methods
A good understanding of specification creation process, design verification and issue tracking (Jira is an advantage).
Creating and managing test plans for electronic modules
Good understanding of Failure Mode Avoidance techniques
Experience in solving complex technical issues using a structured approach
Excellent verbal and written communications in English
Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills
Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, or relevant equivalent experience preferred
Desirable:
Appreciation of in-vehicle electronic hardware integration
A passion for automotive technology
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Previous experience working with an external company to deliver an electronic module
Experience in building up test environments
System engineering experience
