Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is seeking a talented and driven Lead Engineer to join our dynamic team for a 12-month fixed-term contract, due to maternity leave, and play a pivotal role in revolutionizing automotive technology.

As we expand our horizons, we are seeking a Lead Engineer with a passion for mechanical component design and integration to lead our Park Lock Actuator development. 


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilties:


As the Lead Engineer - Park Lock Actuator at Jaguar Land Rover, you will: 


  • Manage core technical knowledge, including Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA). 

  • Develop and manage engineering requirements, design rules, and test cases. 

  • Collaborate with key suppliers to drive technology advancements and standards. 

  • Ensure compliance with engineering targets for function, durability, cost, and weight. 

  • Collaborate closely with CAD engineers, controls teams, and manufacturing teams. 

  • Sign off on design reviews and compliance plans. 

  • Play a crucial role in commodity planning and supplier management. 

  • Investigate and resolve engineering issues using 8D/Six Sigma Methodology. 

  • Interact with various cross-functional teams, including CAD engineers, EDU Geometry Integration Squad, and Tier 1 suppliers. 




  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical component design. 

  • Proven experience in resolving business, technical, and process issues within a Project Team environment. 

  • Experience with transmission actuated mechanisms, especially park lock actuators. 

  • Knowledge of mechatronic systems.
