WHAT TO EXPECT

 

As a NVH Specialist Engineer working in the Chassis Integration Team you will be part of a team responsible for problem solving and solution recommendation for a range of JLR products, from concept to final engineering completion. You will support & lead detailed investigations involving isolating the major sources of noise and vibration from the vehicle occupants involving;

 

  • Propulsion systems (electric or IC) mounting systems

  • Subframe structures and mountings

  • Front and rear wheel steering

  • Air suspension system

  • Roll control system

  • Active suspension

 

The projects you will support, will continue to develop your Engineering skills and Business Behaviours while delivering to programme deadlines. You will be part of the team to ensure JLR products maintain their attribute position in the Premium market sector in a supportive environment.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilites 

 

As an NVH Engineer - Chassis Integration, you will support the Platform Product Owners to ensure all technical issues are identified and resolved. You will be working with system and component areas to investigate and resolve issues identified to support delivery of overall vehicle level targets, and support delivery of technical recommendations and reports. You will also support competitor and comparator Attribute benchmarking and futuring. Including, physical / virtual testing, measurement and visual assessments as required, and support delivery of all Attribute Requirement targets by Gateway.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

Essential:

 

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a small issue resolution team to focus on delivery of solutions, with good working relationships with your key customers, i.e. NVH Product Owners

  • Understanding Prosig DATS or other NVH test hardware / software

  • Ability to perform complex NVH analysis, viz, TPA, Running modes, time-domain analysis

  • Be capable of completing turn-key data driven NVH issue resolution and benchmarking – starting with Instrumenting vehicle and completing with presenting analysed data with recommended next steps

  • Able to subjectively evaluate vehicle NVH issues

  • Good Business Behaviours – with a proactive and inclusive mind-set

  • Demonstrate specific issue investigation projects you have completed

  • Capable of undertaking structured issue resolution (e.g. 8D)

  • Strongly literate in MS Office applications – Word, PowerPoint, Excel

  • Full clean UK Driving Licence (or equivalent)

  • Good communication and presentation skills to influence the Programme team and Component Owners

  • Good understanding of all types of propulsion systems, including BEV

  • Knowledge of whole vehicle engineering and cross functional experience

  • Understand PCDS process and how NVH delivery contributes to successfully achieving programme milestones

  • Batchelor degree in Acoustics/Mechanical/Automotive Engineering or equivalent
