Oxford Launches Latest Phase of Student Barometer Survey to Track Student Experience

Thursday, March 27, 2025 Oxford Launches Latest Phase of Student Barometer Survey to Track Student Experience

The University of Oxford has launched the second phase of its Student Barometer Survey, inviting students across the institution to provide honest feedback on their university experience. Running from 18 March to 8 June 2025, the survey is open to all students except final-year undergraduates, who participated in an earlier phase.

The Student Barometer is one of Oxford’s key tools for understanding student satisfaction, enabling the university to evaluate the effectiveness of its teaching, support services, facilities, and overall student life. The survey asks participants to reflect on aspects of learning, living, and academic support, with the goal of identifying what is working well and what needs improvement.

According to Oxford, the survey plays a crucial role in helping colleges and departments shape policy, improve resources, and make evidence-based decisions that directly affect the student body. In recent years, feedback from the survey has led to enhancements in library services, expanded welfare support, and new academic development initiatives.

Participation is entirely anonymous, and students are encouraged to be candid in their responses. All eligible students have been contacted via email with a personalised link to complete the questionnaire online.

In a statement, the University said:

“We value the voices of our students and rely on this feedback to enhance the Oxford experience for current and future cohorts. Whether it’s about academic resources, accommodation, or day-to-day student life, we want to hear directly from you.”

The data collected will be analysed internally and published in aggregated form later in the year, giving students and staff a clear picture of how Oxford compares with its past performance and with other institutions globally that run similar surveys.

Oxford joins several other UK universities this spring in actively surveying students, as higher education institutions across the country place increasing importance on student input amid ongoing discussions about mental health, cost-of-living support, and academic workload.

The deadline for completing the Student Barometer is 8 June 2025. Students are encouraged to check their university email accounts and contribute to the future of teaching and learning at Oxford.
