2024 UoC Access and Participation Plan -student voice Ambleside

University of Cumbria in Ambleside, Heelis
Join the discussion about how the university supports students to have equality of opportunity to access, succeed in and progress from UoC.
Are you passionate about equality of opportunity for all students?
We’re planning our 2024-28 strategy for equality of access to, participation in studying at and progression to great outcomes from the University of Cumbria for students and are seeking feedback from across the university.
No matter a person's circumstances or characteristics, we are working towards equality of opportunity for all. However, we know that some groups are underrepresented at the University, and are less likely to:
- complete their studies
- get 2.1/1st degrees
- progress onto further study or managerial or professional roles as their peers.
What is an Access and Participation Plan?
To hear about what an Access and Participation Plan is, watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWTkgV9skUc
To read about what we have committed to at UoC already, and groups of students we are particularly targeting our resources to, read our summary here: access-and-participation-plan-summary-template
What you can expect
During this workshop, we’ll start with an overview of what we’re currently doing at UoC to improve equality of opportunity for underrepresented groups of students and present some data on where we currently have gaps between student groups based on characteristics.
How you can contribute
We’d like your thoughts on where and how the university should prioritise its resources to support students to tackle inequalities in university education at all stages.
Workshops will be taking place at different university campuses and online to encourage a range of diverse student and staff voices to feed into the conversation.
