Ramadan Guidance for Schools: Physical Ed, Physical Activity & School Sport

Monday, January 29, 2024 The Pavilion, Moor Lane, Birmingham B6 7AA

Gain a deeper insight into the new guidance on teaching Physical Education, Physical Activity and School Sport during Ramadan for Primary, Secondary, Higher Educational Institutions and wider educational settings.

This conference builds on the position paper written in association with the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), Association for Physical Education (AfPE), Youth Sports Trust (YST), the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA), the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES), and the UK’s Physiological Society.

This conference is the first in its kind, and will address associated misconceptions of Physical Education, Physical Activity and School Sport participation during the month of Ramadan, with supported guidance from the Muslim Council of Britain, ensuring staff are provided with clear and transparent guidance from an Islamic perspective.

Key information will provide useful and important guidelines on how schools can support the fasting PE student and fasting staff. The conference will give delegates the opportunity to discuss the guidance, take part in interactive workshops and breakout sessions exploring how educational institutions can implement it within their own environment. There will also be an opportunity to visit Birmingham City University’s new home for sport, at the nearby Alexander Stadium. Delegates are welcome to submit advanced queries on topics which they would like addressed within the conference.
